COVID-19—Message from Ørsted Sales UK Managing Director, Ashley Phillips

Dear customer

We appreciate that you and your business will be facing challenging times due to the spread of COVID-19. We would like to reassure you that Ørsted has robust plans in place to keep business as usual operations throughout the coronavirus outbreak and that your supply contract continues without any cause for concern.

We have two key priorities at this time: to safeguard the wellbeing of our staff, contractors, partners and their families, and to maintain a reliable supply of electricity for UK consumers. We have a COVID-19 working group which meets regularly to ensure we have business continuity plans in place, particularly for those areas of our operations critical to keeping the lights on and we continue to work with the UK Government, National Grid and Ofgem to coordinate our plans and to ensure we continue to follow best practice as this situation evolves.

We are taking the below actions:

  • The safety of our staff and customers is crucial. We are following government guidelines and acting to ensure we fully comply with all relevant measures provided by government officials and health experts. We have implemented precautionary measures in all our sites including reinforcing basic hygiene measures, restricting access to our operational sites and requiring employees to work from home unless they have a role that requires them to be on-site. This activity is intended to limit the spread of the virus, protect the health and safety of our staff and partners, and ensure those in operational roles can continue to do their jobs.
  • On Friday 13th March we have activated our robust and tested business continuity plan which allows our workforce to operate remotely. Our IT infrastructure is set up to work securely both in the office and remotely.
  • We are in close contact with government regulators and industry partners and will continue to monitor the evolving situation. We have not yet seen a reduction of power station availability due to COVID-19 but we are communicating regularly with National Grid to ensure that at all times they know how much generation we have available to help keep the lights on.
  • All of our business critical process are operating as expected and we do not currently have any concerns around security of supply.

We will continue to closely monitor the situation and we will keep you updated on any adjustments to our procedures.

I would personally like to assure you of our full commitment to you as a valued customer during this uncertain time.

Thank you for your understanding, we wish you continued safety and good health.

Best regards

Ashley
